5.2 Percent Economic Growth Recorded Amid Political Turbulence – Nikol Pashinyan
"It is impossible to find instances in world history where such large-scale changes occur in a country and the economic system remains unaffected, all happening under macroeconomic conditions," stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the parliament during the discussion of the 2018 budget proposal report.
Speaking about economic growth, Pashinyan noted that a significantly higher percentage had been recorded than anticipated.
"In 2018, a 5.2 percent economic growth was registered, while in the 2018 budget proposal, the previous government and the National Assembly projected the economic growth indicator at 4.5 percent. In such global political turmoil in 2018, the government succeeded in exceeding the plan laid by the previous administration, which was based on entirely different forecasts," he emphasized.
