Who Will Become the President of the Supreme Judicial Council? Several Names Circulate

The newspaper "Pahst" reports that following the resignation of Gagik Harutyunyan from the position of President of the Supreme Judicial Council, several candidates' names are being circulated for this position. "Pahst" has received information suggesting that Nikolay Baghdasaryan, a member of the ruling "My Step" faction, is likely to be nominated for this role.

Additionally, there are reports indicating that the entire concept of implementing transitional justice belongs to N. Baghdasaryan, alongside lawyer and candidate for Constitutional Court judge Vahe Grigoryan.

In response to inquiries about potentially being nominated for the position of President of the Supreme Judicial Council, N. Baghdasaryan stated in an interview with "Pahst": "Firstly, I do not have the desire; secondly, I do not meet the criteria." As for the implementation of transitional justice, the deputy did not provide a direct answer but simply noted: "Almost all countries that have experienced a revolution have implemented transitional justice. To be honest, I cannot recall a country that has undergone a revolution and not had transitional justice. This is a procedure enshrined in the UN Charter and other international documents, and initiatives usually come from the UN or international organizations.">

"Before the revolution, I was involved in these processes in other countries. I am familiar with the processes and am interested in ensuring that transitional justice is implemented properly in Armenia."
