‘Zhoghovurd’: David Tonoyan’s Advisor Meets with Kocharian Supporters
‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports: “As is known, the accused in the ‘March 1’ case, former President of Armenia Robert Kocharian, met with his supporters after being released. Among the participants of that meeting was also Vahram Barseghyan, who served as the head of the Presidential Oversight Service during Kocharian’s tenure and worked as the Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee during Serzh Sargsyan’s presidency, later becoming an advisor to the Ministry of Defense.
We would not have paid attention to Vahram Barseghyan’s participation in this event (after all, it is natural for him to support his former leader) if it weren’t for one important circumstance: he has continued to hold a position in the Ministry of Defense as an advisor to the minister after the Velvet Revolution.
Therefore, ‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper inquired with the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, whether Barseghyan is still serving in that capacity. Hovhannisyan noted that Barseghyan was appointed to that position previously, but he no longer works there.
When asked when Barseghyan’s service ended, Hovhannisyan did not provide a clear answer, stating that we should send a written inquiry. ‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper attempted to obtain comments from Barseghyan, but our calls went unanswered.
