Kocharian's Defenders Will Appeal to the Court of Appeals

The defense team of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, is preparing to appeal to the Court of Appeals on June 3. Haik Alumyank, one of Kocharian's lawyers, stated this in a conversation with reporters.

The defense team seeks detailed information on how it has come to pass that both appeals filed by the prosecution against the decisions of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction—related to changing Kocharian's measure of restraint and suspending the proceedings for Kocharian and others to send them to the Constitutional Court—have been assigned to the same judge, Armen Danielyan.

“There are two different judicial acts being contested, and the judges to whom the cases are assigned are chosen randomly through a computer system. It is peculiar to us that both appeals from the prosecution ended up with the same judge,” Alumyank stated.
