Armenia Enters Phase of Real Dangers of Constitutional Crisis: Edmon Marukyan
Armenia is entering a phase of real dangers regarding the constitutional crisis of separation and balancing of powers. This was stated by Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' parliamentary faction, on his Facebook page, referring to the President of Armenia's concession and the second nomination of Vahe Grigoryan for the position of a Constitutional Court judge, the compromised state of the judiciary, and the impact of the super-prime ministership on the legislative authority.
In his post, he specifically mentioned:
“Armenia is entering a phase of real dangers regarding the constitutional crisis of separation and balancing of powers. The President of the Republic has yielded to pressure, the already discredited judicial system has been trampled upon, while the legislative authority continues to be under the influence of the super-prime ministerial system. The institutional development crucial for the state is being stalled by situational solutions that create new and more dangerous problems instead of addressing targeted issues.
This is nothing short of a squandering of the opportunity for democratization and institutional reforms created after the revolution.”
