VIDEO: I advise Aram Simonyan to leave with dignity, says Minister of Education
I believe that leaving with dignity is a very good thing, but in this case, I did not see such a behavior. This was stated by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, Arayik Harutyunyan, in a conversation with reporters today.
Referring to the resignation of Yerevan State University rector Aram Simonyan, he said that any leader, especially the head of a large institution, should speak about the successes and failures they have had when leaving, rather than trying to blame others for something.
“I regret that Aram Simonyan did not make that decision earlier and set back YSU for several years. The backwardness that was evident at YSU is apparent, and I believe it is partly due to a pang of conscience, because it is clear that during his tenure, YSU has experienced serious regression,” said the minister, adding that there has been no discussion of any candidate on his part.
When asked if there was a plan to dissolve the Board of Trustees, Arayik Harutyunyan stated that the Board of Trustees would not be dissolved unless its members apply for it for some reasons.
Recall that yesterday, on May 23, during the conclusion of the scientific council meeting at YSU, the now former rector Aram Simonyan announced his resignation.
