Judge Who Released Kocharyan is Accompanied by Police Officers
According to Armtimes.com, David Grigoryan, a judge of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, is now accompanied by police officers following his decision to change Robert Kocharyan's detention based on personal guarantees.
In response to the media's inquiry, the Police of the Republic of Armenia stated that police are ensuring David Grigoryan's safety based on a letter received from the Judicial Department in accordance with the law.
When asked whether the judge had contacted the Judicial Department or if the department had approached the police on its own initiative, the press office of the Supreme Judicial Council did not provide an answer.
It is noteworthy that on May 18, David Grigoryan's decision changed Robert Kocharyan's detention based on personal guarantees from the current and former presidents of Artsakh, Bako Sahakyan and Arkadi Ghukasyan. Two days later, on May 20, Grigoryan decided to suspend the proceedings of the case and sent it to the Constitutional Court to clarify the constitutionality of Article 300.1 of the RA Criminal Code (overthrowing the constitutional order) as applied to Kocharyan and others.
