"It's Defamation": Kotayk Governor Responds to Media Publication About His Brother

Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan has responded to a media publication stating that his brother had dined at one of Abovyan's restaurants and refused to pay for the meal.

In this regard, the governor specifically pointed out that the news is absolutely false, fabricated, and bears no relation to reality. “This information is part of an informational campaign against me, my relatives, and my political team operating in Abovyan, aimed at discrediting my name and the names of those connected to me through provocations, slander, and misinformation ahead of the Abovyan mayoral elections,” he stated, adding that the news is intended to defame him and his brother, tarnishing their good reputation in the eyes of the public.

“If ‘Fact’ does not issue a denial, I will immediately file a lawsuit on Monday for a denial, apology, and possibly compensation for moral damages,” the governor noted.

It is worth mentioning that the newspaper “Fact” reported that it had received several intriguing pieces of information regarding the newly emerging behavior of the regional figure referred to as “Sashik.” According to the newspaper, a rather absurd incident took place recently in one of Abovyan’s restaurants. The governor's brother, along with his entourage, entered to eat.

After having some drinks, the young men demand the bill. Upon receiving it, the governor's brother dramatically tears the bill apart and declares with a proud tone that he is the governor’s brother and “does not have to settle the bill.” Our sources report that, following some explanatory work, nevertheless, the governor's brother eventually pays the amount.
