Mirzoyan's Friend Becomes a Headache for Lawmakers: 'Hraparak'
According to the newspaper 'Hraparak', 'Ararat Mirzoyan's driver friend, who is currently serving as the head of the staff of the National Assembly, has become a headache for the ruling party members well-versed in the law.
Recently, a decision made by him has sparked intense discussion in parliament, as it is deemed illegal. The issue revolves around the thorough inspections of opposition members of parliament. Specifically, Edmon Marukyan, leader of the LHK party, recently confessed in a conversation that upon entering the parliament, they check not only the exterior and interior of vehicles, but also the trunk, and in recent days, MPS have been asked to open their bags as well.
Marukyan was informed by National Assembly staff that they were instructed to carry out these checks, and so they comply. According to our sources, after the uproar, the head of the National Assembly Defense Committee, Andranik Kocharyan, admonished the Assembly's speaker, stating that such absurd decisions should no longer be made by the head of the staff, as searching a bag is considered a search, and as long as MPs have not lost their immunity, they cannot be checked. Moreover, Kocharyan stated that if the opposition MPs wanted to, they could sue for this reason. In recent days, opposition members are no longer subjected to such searches.'
