How Robert Kocharian Had Two Passports: "Zhoghovurd"

"Zhoghovurd" newspaper reports: Yesterday, while speaking at the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, who is charged with overthrowing the constitutional order in the case of March 1, made an interesting statement. Referring to the justifications that he could obstruct the trial or flee while being at liberty, Kocharian declared: "I had two passports; one was with me, and the other was with them at the NSS. I could have chosen not to tell them and leave the country." This statement is intriguing regarding Kocharian's possession of two passports.

According to "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, Armenian legislation allows citizens to simultaneously hold both a standard passport and a biometric passport. Moreover, biometric passports are intended not for domestic use but for traveling abroad. This explains the context of Kocharian's statement.
