Why Does the Ministry of Defense Trust Military Vehicles to Inexperienced Conscripts?

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" writes: "What is the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Artak Davtyan, occupied with when we have yet another casualty due to military vehicle accidents?

On November 7, 2018, an accident occurred on the Vorotan-Khndzoresk highway: 4 soldiers died, while others were hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries.

It was reported that the vehicle involved was not suitable for operation. Following the incident, several high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense were dismissed. However, no one has been held accountable for this incident; in other words, the response has only been dismissals. Some time after this incident, on April 13, there was another accident on the Meghri-Tzirani gorge highway, resulting in 18 soldiers being hospitalized.

While law enforcement is investigating this case, yet another incident occurred yesterday. On May 14, during training exercises of military unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense, according to preliminary data, due to violations in the operating or driving rules of combat vehicles, an "Ural-4310" vehicle overturned, leading to the death of the commander of the vehicle's accounting service, conscript Junior Sergeant Ararat Khechumyan, as a result of injuries sustained.

In this situation, there have been repeated calls regarding the fact that the Ministry of Defense assigns military vehicles to inexperienced conscripts, putting their lives at risk. It remains unclear who should be held accountable for this situation and why the Ministry of Defense does not learn from these incidents and does not trust more experienced drivers to operate the vehicles."
