What Happened on May 9 in Artsakh
The newspaper ‘Pats’ writes: ‘The complex feelings of the new Armenian authorities regarding Artsakh, the Artsakh issue, and the Nagorno-Karabakh war require a detailed study, but at first glance, this phenomenon does not seem new and probably has more to do with the complex that most of this government has not served in the army, and a significant number of newcomers have not even been to Artsakh at all.
Moreover, according to our information, most of the ‘My Step’ representatives who recently visited Artsakh were there for the first time. Perhaps this is objectively one of the reasons for the existing approaches and positions.
For instance, according to ‘Pats’ information, in addition to the well-known incidents that occurred on May 9, there were also other types of escalations. The ruling ‘My Step’ faction only agreed to participate in a conference organized by the ARF at the last moment, sending Tatevik Hayrapetyan and Gor Gevorgyan.
Incidentally, eyewitnesses report that they felt quite foreign and uncomfortable not only in their interactions with the Artsakh parties but also with other parties from Armenia. They maintained quite an isolated presence; in short, they were not at the center of events. Moreover, it is worth noting that on May 9, the Prime Minister was in Artsakh for only 5 hours and did not stay until the end of the events.’
