Extreme Unjust Trial: Alumyans on Today's Hearing

Extreme unjust trial occurred, because the court session was started by the prosecutors and ended by the prosecutors; the first and last voices are usually impressed upon the audience. This was stated today, May 16, in a conversation with reporters by Hayk Alumyan, a member of the defense team of the second President of Armenia.

“The judge did everything to create the impression that our arguments were shattered. In reality, no serious counterargument was brought against our arguments; it was simply an impression that was created. This case is entirely based on perceptions, primarily the perceptions of the public,” he noted.

It should be reminded that today the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction was examining the issue of the measure of restraint for the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, with a decision to be announced on May 18. It is added that Robert Kocharyan is accused of overthrowing the constitutional order of the Republic of Armenia and receiving a particularly large bribe for facilitating actions in favor of Silva Hambardzumyan, the sole participant and director of “TSSCI Armenia” LLC, by abusing his official position. However, his lawyers insist that the charges are baseless, and that a politically motivated prosecution is being carried out against him in a fabricated case.
