Aram Harutyunyan's 'Man' Takes Over as Head of Environmental and Mining Inspection Body
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports: 'After more than three months, the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body finally has a new head, Vigen Avetisyan. However, he is not an accidental figure. Avetisyan is one of the long-standing employees of the Ministry of Environment, having worked there since 2002 in various responsible positions.
It is noteworthy that the new authorities have appointed Vigen Avetisyan to this position when he is considered to be the 'man' of Aram Harutyunyan, the former Minister of Environment, who is currently wanted for allegedly receiving bribes on a large scale. In this regard, the government's staffing approach is, to say the least, peculiar.
Recall that after the Velvet Revolution, environmental activist Arthur Grigoryan was appointed head of the inspection body, but unexpectedly he was discharged from his position.
According to some information, his tenure was not to the liking of Environment Minister Erik Grigoryan. Moreover, the upper echelons of the government and the ministry were also dissatisfied with Grigoryan's approach. It turns out that Erik Grigoryan managed to find a state official whom he could easily control.'
