7 out of 10 deaths were not caused by police or military: Kocharyan in court
The reorganization of the military command and the movement of military units has nothing to do with Article 300.1 of the Criminal Code. Until March 1, 2008, the armed forces were not used in Yerevan, stated lawyer Hayk Alumyan during a preliminary court session regarding the detention of former President Robert Kocharyan.
“Prior to March 1, 2008, any movements that took place—such as the transfer of personnel from particular military units to another unit—did not constitute the use of armed forces. The armed forces were not used but merely relocated. There was no deployment of troops. What is presented in the indictment absolutely does not correspond to reality,” added the lawyer.
Former President Robert Kocharyan also spoke in court about the 10 deaths on March 1, stating: “7 out of 10 deaths were not caused by police or military. Are there any detainees? Are there any investigative actions being taken to find these specific individuals?”
