Serj Sargsyan's Brother's Case Will Be Handled by a Judge with Close Ties to the Family

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that 'Serj Sargsyan's brother, Lyova Sargsyan, has filed a lawsuit against the Ethics Commission of High-Ranking Officials in Armenia, appealing the Commission's decision to impose an administrative penalty on him on April 9.'

In a surprising coincidence, the case will be overseen by a judge with close ties to the family. The judge in question is Ani Harutyunyan, a judge at the Administrative Court of Armenia and the daughter of Grisha Harutyunyan, a former deputy head of the National Security Service and a close friend of Serj Sargsyan. This case has been assigned to her.

Interestingly, Ani Harutyunyan is also the niece of Mihran Poghosyan, the former head of the Compulsory Enforcement Service, who is currently facing charges. It remains to be seen whether Ani Harutyunyan, who has been assigned this criminal case, will withdraw from the proceedings considering the relationships between the plaintiff and their family, or if she will prefer to bypass the law.'
