Prosecution Presents List of 800 Witnesses in Kocharyan Case
The prosecution has presented a list of 800 witnesses, while at this stage, we have submitted a list of 10 witnesses. This was stated by Haik Alumyan, one of the defenders of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, during a conversation with reporters.
“Our list includes Constitutional Court judges, Samvel Mayrapetyan, and Mikayel Harutyunyan. It is clear that those 800 witnesses could be questioned over the course of about four years,” noted Alumyan.
When asked what connection the Constitutional Court judges have to Kocharyan's charges, Alumyan replied, “Among other things, one of the points in Mr. Kocharyan's charges states that there was pressure on the Constitutional Court judges at that time, without specifying which judges were subjected to pressure and how that pressure manifested. For some unclear reason, two judges were selected from all the judges of the Constitutional Court, and during the pre-trial investigation, they were the ones questioned. Both, by the way, denied any pressure against them.”
According to Alumyan, they have already submitted a motion to the court and are preparing to insist that the remaining judges of the Constitutional Court should be invited to understand what pressures are being referred to, against whom this pressure was exerted, and how it manifested.
