Nikol Pashinyan in Gegharkunik Region: Investment Conference

During the 'My Step for Gegharkunik' investment conference, one of the entrepreneurs who arrived from Russia expressed a desire to return to Armenia, bringing many other Armenians and businesspeople with him, but raised concerns regarding land distribution.

'As long as they are not cultivated, it is normal; as soon as you try to cultivate, the owners come out,' said one of the businesspeople from Russia.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded, noting that a representative from the authorized body would answer the businessperson regarding land issues.

'In our country, the monopolistic and corrupt rationale has indeed disappeared,' said Nikol Pashinyan.

The Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources also mentioned that a solar power plant with a capacity of 55 megawatts would be built in the Gegharkunik region in 2019-2020, which will be the largest solar power plant in our region at the lowest cost. The lowest price was secured thanks to the region's great solar potential.

Gegharkunik Governor Gnel Sanosyan stated that, during 2019, 66 kilometers of roads will be built or renovated in the Gegharkunik region. Additionally, approximately 22 irrigation networks and drinking water networks will be constructed this year.

The number of tourists visiting Gegharkunik region has increased by 52 percent. The region now has about 50 hotel facilities offering 1,450 hotel rooms. On average, the region can accommodate about 5,000 tourists per day. This was stated by Susanna Safaryan, the head of the State Committee for Tourism.
