Car Crashes Into Barrier Near Bridge and Slides into Gorge

At 07:19 AM on May 9, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia received a report to the "911" service that an accident had occurred along the Yerevan-Meghri highway near the bridge close to the village of Elpin, with injuries reported and the need for rescue services.

A firefighting and rescue unit from the Emergency Situations Ministry, along with an operational group from the regional rescue administration, were dispatched to the scene.

It was determined that a "VAZ-21099" vehicle (driver's details have not yet been established) went off the traffic lane approximately 100 kilometers along the Yerevan-Meghri highway, crashed into the roadside barriers, and slid approximately 5 meters into a nearby gorge.
