Tragic Accident in Syunik Province: Collision Between Toyota Vitz and KamAZ Claims Life of Contracted Serviceman
A major and tragic traffic accident occurred in Syunik Province. Yesterday, on May 2 at approximately 23:40, a collision took place on the 380th km segment of the Yerevan-Yeraskh-Meghri border with the Islamic Republic of Iran involving a Toyota Vitz with license plate 35 VR 168 driven by 25-year-old Armen Aharonyan from Meghri and a KamAZ with license plate 07 СO 540 driven by 33-year-old Narek Tatosyan from Sisian.
According to Shamshyan.com, as a result of the collision, both vehicles were forced off the road and ended up in a ravine. Armen Aharonyan died at the scene, while 23-year-old Levon Aharonyan was transported to the Meghri Medical Center, where he also succumbed to his injuries in the intensive care unit hours later.
Rescue workers and officers from the second battalion of the traffic police's second company recovered the deceased and the injured from the ravine. A photojournalist reported that the KamAZ was overturned as a result of the collision, while the Toyota Vitz was flipped upside down. According to G. Shamshyan's sources, the deceased were siblings who served as contracted servicemen in a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
