Sexual Relations with Underage Daughter Reported

A criminal case has been initiated concerning sexual relations with an underage daughter in one of the villages of the Syunik region. This was stated in an interview with NEWS.am by Naira Harutyunyan, head of the Public Relations and Information Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

"Charges have been filed against a man born in 1972 under Article 141 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (engaging in sexual acts with a person under the age of sixteen)," Harutyunyan told the news outlet.

Earlier, Sputnik Armenia reported that the 14-year-old girl comes from a large family and has both sisters and brothers. The girl's mother left the family years ago and departed from the village.

The villagers are also aware of the incident as they were the ones who reported it to the police. The girl and the other school-aged children in the family have not been attending school for the past few days.

The children have now been left with their grandmother. It is noteworthy that as a large family, they have received regular assistance from various NGOs, and the community has attempted to resolve the father's employment issues.
