Mayors and Community Leaders are Skilled 'Delayers': Our Hope is Nikol Pashinyan, Say Residents of Gurjyan Street
Residents of several apartment buildings on Gurjyan Street in the Nor Nork administrative district of Yerevan have felt neglected by both former and current authorities for a long time. This information was reported by shamshyan.com.
In an interview with the media outlet, residents of buildings 60 and 62 on Gurjyan Street stated, “Who has seen a public transport stop disappear overnight in the 21st century? Some individuals have built all sorts of things where the stop used to be, from a tavern to car wash and maintenance points, while we, the citizens, due to the lack of a stop and a sidewalk, have to pray every day when crossing the street that we don’t end up under a car, considering the risk of being hit by a vehicle. We have approached both the former and current authorities. If we had lost hope in the former ones, we did initially believe the new ones would solve the issue, but it turns out they are just as unreliable as the previous ones. As the people say, the same ... different-colored garbage bags. We have contacted the administrative district head’s office, the Yerevan municipality, and even the hotline, but to no avail. We have thought long and hard about whom to turn to for solutions to our problems, and we have come to the conclusion that, like in the famous film 'The Bride from the North,' we need to grab Ivan by his tail, and for us, that Ivan is Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who we believe can solve our issues. We know that numerous problems have accumulated on the Prime Minister’s desk, and we are therefore compelled to turn to him for a solution to our issue. We want a civilized public transport stop, we want safely installed gas pipelines, we want good-quality transportation options so that we can also travel in a civilized manner, not like 'like cattle.' We also appeal to the traffic police to install speed bumps in that area to deter certain drivers, which would reduce traffic accidents and fatalities, including pedestrian deaths, in our street.
