Alert to the Prime Minister: More than 250 fruit trees have been cut down, claiming it was done with the approval of the Ararat region governor
Residents of Narek village in the Ararat region expressed their anger and outrage over their village mayor's acts of vandalism against nature. This alert was received by Shamshyan.com.
In an interview with the media, 58-year-old Vardanik Vardanyan from Narek village said, with tears in her eyes, "For 23 years, I have taken care of this area next to the village administration, spending sleepless nights. The area was completely barren, and I cultivated it, planting fruit trees, including apple, apricot, peach, cherry, walnut, and pear trees. Within 2-3 days, the village mayor called some people and had all the trees cut down with special electric saws. How low can one be, how much can one despise nature and envy the villagers, to commit such a massacre against the trees? Mayor Garush Hakobyan cut these trees with such delight that there are no words to describe it. The Turks, who were once killers of Armenians, did not harm nature because they understood that it provides life; they lived off that nature. But our village mayor has outdone even the Turks. We don’t know whom to turn to; our hopes rest on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Police Chief Valery Osipyan. It is true that we are pleased that our regional police chief, upon learning of this horrific crime, has already sent officers to the village to investigate this crime. We ask Mr. Pashinyan and Mr. Osipyan to remove the scum from among us, and that scum is our mayor, who has been sucking our blood like a leech for over 15 years."
Several villagers added during discussions with the media, "Now we don't want to just talk in front of the camera; if necessary, we will block streets just like the Prime Minister we elected, Nikol Pashinyan. The mayor is saying that he is building a stadium. Hey wise guy, where have you seen a stadium built at the expense of nature in high-voltage power lines? This probably wants the kids who play football to get electrocuted! At this moment, we refuse to resort to drastic measures because we are confident that the Prime Minister and the police chief will hold the mayor accountable for vandalism against nature. We also regret that our beloved village mayor carried out the massacre of these 250-300 healthy trees with the governor’s permission. In any case, the mayor has stated that the governor is aware of this. Well, if the governor is aware of the massacre of healthy trees in the village, then that governor must have a brain of a crocodile!"
