Five Billionaires Arrested in Algeria

In Algeria, five billionaires have been arrested as part of an investigation into corruption crimes, including the country’s richest man.

According to Reuters, citing the national state television, some of the billionaires were close associates of former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who resigned following mass protests and is now imprisoned.

One of those arrested is businessman Issad Rebrab, the wealthiest person in the country, while the other four billionaires are family members. The former president was particularly close to this family.
