Emergency Incident in Lori Province: Gas and Water Pipelines Damaged Due to Collapse

On April 22, an emergency incident occurred in Lori Province. At approximately 12:40 PM, the Emergency Situations Ministry’s rescue service received a call reporting that a retaining wall had collapsed in the Piruzyan neighborhood of Alaverdi.

According to Shamshyan.com, a firefighting and rescue team from the Emergency Situations Ministry’s Rescue Service, led by Armen Barseghyan, arrived at the scene. It was determined that, under unknown circumstances, a section of the retaining wall measuring 3 meters in height and 10 meters in length had collapsed. A photographer at the scene reported that the collapse caused damage to both the gas pipeline and water supply pipes, resulting in a water leak, while the road has become one-way accessible.

Employees from the Tumanyan branch of “Gazprom Armenia” and “Veolia Water” also arrived at the site. Alaverdi Mayor Sasun Khechumyan and staff from the municipality's communal service department were also present. The firefighters cordoned off the area, after which the municipal service staff removed the collapsed stones to allow employees from “Gazprom Armenia” and “Veolia Water” to restore water and gas supplies to the affected neighborhood.
