Defense Team of Sanasaryan Appeals to Prosecutor General, Demands Cancellation of Preliminary Investigation Decision
The head of the Republic of Armenia's State Oversight Service, Davit Sanasaryan's defense team has appealed to the Prosecutor General, demanding the cancellation of the preliminary investigation body's decision to involve Sanasaryan as a defendant and to temporarily suspend his official duties. This was stated by one of Sanasaryan's attorneys, Arsen Sardarayan, in a conversation with Tert.am, adding that they are also demanding the case be transferred from the NSS Investigation Department to another investigative body.
"The accusation lacks any serious substantiation; in other words, an obviously innocent person is currently facing criminal liability," he emphasized.
The lawyer mentioned that he cannot disclose the grounds for the appeal or what data has been used, due to the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation, but everything will be presented to the public after the investigation concludes.
It is worth mentioning that on April 18, Davit Sanasaryan was charged under the first part of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
