Vladimir Gasparyan Provides Sensational Testimony

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that former Chief of Police Vladimir Gasparyan, who was the head of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense in 2008, has provided sensational testimony during the questioning related to the "March 1" case.

According to the excerpts of his testimony obtained by the newspaper, it becomes clear that during the events of March 2008, Azerbaijan was active along the borders of Armenia and Artsakh. "We know that there were certain intensifications at the borders during that time," said Gasparyan.

When asked by the investigator whether he could specify what intensifications were recorded along which borders, the former Chief of Police replied, "There were intensifications along the Tavush and Artsakh borders. There were statements of a general nature similar to a preamble, indicating that this situation is present. Political developments within the country usually have an impact on border situations."

In response to the question of why the Armed Forces of the Ministry of Defense were concentrated in Yerevan rather than at the borders where such activities were observed, Gasparyan responded, "The question should be directed to the Ministry of Defense of Armenia and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. Perhaps the forces at the borders were deemed sufficient, which is why some of the forces were brought to Yerevan."
