Major Car Accident in Yerevan Involving Multiple Vehicles, Injuries Reported

A significant car accident occurred in Yerevan. On the evening of April 15 at around 23:50, an emergency call was received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ rescue service operational management center regarding a collision involving six vehicles on Gevorg Tsahouyan Street, with civilians reportedly trapped inside.

Firefighters from the number 7 fire-rescue squad, equipped with one combat unit, rapidly responded to the scene, according to Shamshyan.com.

It was revealed that a collision occurred under still unidentified circumstances at the beginning of the Ashtarak highway, involving a VAZ 2106 with license plate 36 CA 699, a Honda CRV with license plate 262 OR 61, a Nissan Teana with license plate 34 MN 198, a GAZel Evakuator with license plate 51 TA 555, a Toyota Camry with license plate 40 TO 040, and a Mercedes C with license plate 35 RM 242. Before the firefighters arrived at the scene, a passenger of the VAZ 2106, 22-year-old Kamo Nalbandyan, was helped out of the vehicle by citizens and transported to the Armenia Medical Center.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the accident scene, the firefighters extricated the driver of the VAZ, 40-year-old Haykaram Nalbandyan, who was then taken on a stretcher to an ambulance that had promptly arrived from Yerevan's 1-03 emergency medical service. Medical personnel provided first aid to the injured before transport to the Armenia Medical Center.

The firefighters disabled the vehicles and secured the gas cylinders.
