Former Prime Minister Played Major Role in Baghramyan's Appointment; No Hope for Rate Reductions

According to the newspaper "Zhamanak," "The appointment of Garen Baghramyan as the head of the Public Services Regulatory Commission was significantly influenced by former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, who still effectively controls Armenia's gas supply system, along with Samvel Karapetyan, the owner of the Electric Networks of Armenia, and Ralph Yirikyan, the executive director of MTS Armenia.

Baghramyan has previously served as the head of the Commission's tariff policy department and has had various connections with "Gazprom Armenia," the Electric Networks of Armenia, and telecommunication companies. This appointment once again suggests that the citizens of Armenia cannot even hope for a decrease in gas or electricity tariffs."
