What Does Julian Assange Want and What Is His Connection to Armenia? Samvel Martirosyan
As we have already reported, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was arrested on April 11 at the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The police announced that Ecuadorian authorities had revoked Assange’s right to asylum.
The reason for his arrest is the leak of critical documents from the U.S. State Department and the Pentagon that occurred several years ago.
Information security expert Samvel Martirosyan has commented on Assange's arrest, discussing what connection Assange might have with Armenia.
“WikiLeaks has an ideology; Assange says that states do everything to make people transparent, eavesdropped upon, etc., while they do everything so that their activities are cloaked in darkness,” Martirosyan noted.
He emphasized that WikiLeaks has tried to do everything possible to prevent the state from becoming a repressive machine and a “victim” of secrecy.
The expert mentioned that states encrypt whatever they can get their hands on, and in his opinion, this is also a significant issue for Armenia.
