VIDEO: 14,000 Counterfeit Euros Discovered on Yerevan Resident

The Main Department for the Fight Against Organized Crime of the Police has discovered a large quantity of counterfeit euros in Yerevan. This information comes from the official website of the Armenian Police.

On the night of April 11, Yerevan resident Sargis Ananyan was apprehended by the Main Department for the Fight Against Organized Crime. Officers of the department had obtained operational data indicating that Ananyan was about to place a bet using counterfeit euros at the office of a bookmaker.

According to preliminary information, Sargis Ananyan, along with unidentified accomplices, used 16 counterfeit banknotes with a face value of 200 euros each, totaling 3,200 euros, as payment for bets at the bookmaker’s office.

During a personal search, 8 banknotes with a face value of 200 euros each, amounting to 1,600 euros, were discovered. Police seized 46 banknotes with a face value of 200 euros each, totaling 9,200 euros, from the basement of his residence.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the acquisition, possession, and partial circulation of particularly large amounts of counterfeit euros totaling 14,000. An investigation is underway.

Sargis Ananyan has been arrested.
