Video: Overpaid Environmental Fees for Vehicle Inspections Will Be Refunded, Ministry of Finance

The Ministry of Finance of Armenia has announced that citizens who have overpaid environmental fees for vehicle inspections from January 2018 until the legislative changes in June can receive refunds starting from April 11 within a six-month period.

To get the environmental fees refunded, citizens need to submit an application to the relevant bank or the Ministry of Finance's treasury.

According to Ori Alaverdyan, head of the Revenue Policy and Administration Methodology Department at the Ministry of Finance, if a citizen made the payment through a bank, they must provide a copy of the vehicle's technical passport and the payment receipt for the environmental fee along with their application. If the payment was made via the electronic system epayment.am, the refund will be processed by the treasury.

"The payment slip is mandatory according to the procedure. Citizens who have not retained the receipt can obtain a duplicate through the bank, as the bank provides such an opportunity," he stated.

The Ministry official emphasized that citizens are not required to calculate the amount of overpaid fees themselves. They can simply approach the bank to obtain this information. The Ministry of Finance will also assist by providing individual information.

The Ministry of Finance has further clarified that according to the procedure, these amounts will be refunded within six months. Therefore, applications must be submitted within the next six months, after which the refund process will not be available.

The basis for this is the Armenian government's decision No. 314-N from March 29, 2019, which amends government decision No. 814-N dated July 13, 2017.
