Why a Criminal Case Has Been Opened Against a Relative of Pashinyan
On April 11, 2019, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia accepted a case regarding the apparent falsification of a diploma by the National Security Service. This was reported to Factor.am by Naira Harutyunyan, head of the department of information and public relations of the Investigative Committee.
"According to preliminary data, an engineer from the Dilijan National Park of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia submitted a copy of a diploma stating that he graduated from the Armenian Agricultural Institute in 1993 with a specialization in 'Agricultural Mechanization' and received the qualification of engineer-mechanic to the human resources department in February 2019. He was appointed to the position of deputy head of the department in the aforementioned organization. Evidence has been obtained during the investigation indicating that the diploma submitted by the engineer is apparently forged. A criminal case was opened on April 4, 2019, in the investigative department of the NSS under Article 325, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia," she said.
It should be noted that, according to our sources, this criminal case concerns a relative of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, named Mamikon Hovhannisyan.
