‘Break and Shake’: Head of Emergency Situations Hydrometeorological Service Dismissed to Appoint Edward Aghajanyan’s Niece
The newspaper ‘Hraparak’ reports: Recently, Suren Hovsepyan, the head of the Emergency Situations Hydrometeorological Service, submitted his resignation. He was appointed after the revolution, replacing Levon Vardanyan, a relative of Gagik Jhangiryan.
According to our sources, the ‘sponsor’ of Hovsepyan’s dismissal was also Edward Aghajanyan, the head of the government staff, known as DJ Edon, who has recently been using the slogan ‘break and shake’. His name was also linked to the dismissal of Hayk Ayvazyan, the head of the reform group responsible for supervisory bodies.
Incidentally, according to some data, the head of the hydrometeorological service is being dismissed for the sake of Karine Muradyan, Aghajanyan’s niece, who works as a department head in the Ministry of Emergency Situations. When we asked the former director Hovsepyan if he was pressured to resign, he replied, ‘No, and what’s so important? I wanted to, so I wrote it.’ He didn’t provide a reason for his resignation. ‘I will say later.’ Was the issue about placing Karine Muradyan? ‘No, I had no issues with her; maybe they had— I don’t know. There was a general requirement to implement optimization. I managed a team of 700 people composed of serious specialists, and I only cut 16 people because the system would collapse, and I didn’t know where those professionals should go.’ It is said that you also increased Karine's position and salary. ‘Yes.’ The Ministry of Emergency Situations says that your relatives also work there. ‘My brother has been working there for ten years—does that mean anything?’ Who do you think will be appointed after you? ‘I don’t care at all.’
