Armenian State Debt Decreases, Reports ‘Hayots Ashkharh’

‘Hayots Ashkharh’ newspaper reports that the Armenian state debt has shown signs of decline, albeit at a slow pace. As of March 31 of this year, the state debt stood at $6 billion 934.2 million, a decrease from $6 billion 943.6 million at the end of February, and $6 billion 951 million at the end of January. In other words, over the course of a month, the state debt decreased by $9.4 million.

Undoubtedly, the lion’s share of the state debt is the government’s, amounting to $6 billion 389.5 million, of which $4 billion 943.6 million is external debt. The reduction of the state debt is not coincidental; Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government is working to refrain from taking on new loans, thereby accumulating state debt. However, it should be noted that the debt taken serves its purposes, rather than being embezzled, as was the case during previous administrations.
