Brutal Murder: Suspect Flees with Victim's Mercedes After Burning Body

On April 8, employees of the Main Division of Criminal Investigation of the Police, led by head Artak Karapetyan and deputy head Tigran Karapetyan, alongside officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Lori Regional Police, headed by Gevorg Hakobyan and deputy Valeri Baghdasaryan, as well as detectives from the Criminal Investigation and Community Policing Departments of the Tumanyan Division, led by Lernik Gigolyan, in cooperation with the investigative committee of the Lori region of Armenia, launched joint operational and investigative actions that resulted in the apprehension of a 30-year-old man, Kamo Kiriakosyan, suspected of murder in Tumanyan, as reported by Shamshyan.com.

Kamo Kiriakosyan is suspected of stabbing 46-year-old Arsen Sardarayan multiple times, and subsequently burning his body.

Arsen Sardarayan had been reported missing since April 4, with police from the Malatia Division searching for him. He used his Mercedes vehicle with license plate 34 RA 735 as a taxi on weekends and had traveled from Yerevan with a client to the Lori region. Since the following day, his relatives had not received any information from him. They attempted to contact him, but he either did not answer or was unreachable. For nearly several days, the police of Lori had conducted extensive search operations, scouring all suspicious areas, and eventually, units of the Main Division of Criminal Investigation and Lori police, alongside detectives, formed operational and investigative teams that located the Mercedes, with K. Kiriakosyan behind the wheel.

Upon apprehension, he confessed to the murder under pressure of the evidence, revealing that the burned body was located in the Akhori administrative region of Lori.

Following this revelation, Anna Mantashyan, head of the Lori regional investigative department, established an investigative team, and K. Kiriakosyan is currently being escorted by police and detectives to the site where he concealed the body.

Witnesses stated that the suspect, K. Kiriakosyan, had returned to Armenia from the Russian Federation on that day.

A criminal case was initiated under part 1 of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code. According to the investigator's decision, K. Kiriakosyan has been arrested.

Notice: A suspect or accused person is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia and by a legally enforced court verdict.
