Teghut to Reopen in About Three Months
Preparatory work is underway for the re-launch of the Teghut company, as reported by Karen Mikayelyan, the head of the "Teghut Reopening" initiative, to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper. According to him, an executive director and a general director have already been appointed at the Teghut company. The general director is of Russian nationality.
In about three months, the company will have the opportunity to operate the mining site. It is noteworthy that the Teghut mine is currently under the control of the Russian VTB Bank. The bank's management has engaged a new operator for the purpose of exploiting the mine. The operator is Norik Petrosyan, a businessman of Armenian descent living in Russia, who is reportedly also involved in the mining industry in Russia.
It turns out that Norik Petrosyan has already begun working on Teghut. On the other hand, the future of the Alaverdi copper smelting plant remains uncertain, as the office of Vice Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan continues to remain silent on this issue without taking any action.
