SRC on Gas Price Change: How Many Gas Stations are Currently Under Inspection
The functions of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia do not include market price control and monitoring, nor issues related to unfair competition. This was stated by the Chairman of the SRC, David Ananyan, during a press conference on April 3, while commenting on the changes in the calculation of gas volumes, which implies a transition to weight-based measurement, that is, in kilograms instead of the previous gas meter readings at gas stations.
Moreover, he noted that the issue of gas price increases at gas stations should be addressed by the Competition Protection Commission, not the SRC.
According to SRC forecasts, the change in measurement units should not lead to price increases. Speaking about his previous statements regarding ongoing inspections at eight gas stations, Ananyan mentioned that those eight have increased to 35, and as a result of inspections conducted by the SRC, tax liabilities amounting to 22 billion drams have been presented to their owners.
“They have decided to fully appeal that decision in court. Currently, judicial proceedings are underway on this matter,” he said.
