Leukemia Diagnosed in Bingo the Tiger, Treatment Plan Developed in Yerevan

A leukemia diagnosis has been confirmed for one of the tigers at the Yerevan Zoo. This information has been reported by the zoo's public relations department.

At the beginning of last week, Bingo, one of the zoo's tigers, showed signs of illness: he was weak and ventured out for walks less frequently. Following the veterinarian's professional intervention, the tiger showed signs of improvement; however, on Friday, the caretakers noticed bleeding from his nose.

An online consultation was convened with the chief veterinarians from zoos in Moscow, Tehran, and Amsterdam. During this consultation, it was decided to sedate the animal to conduct an ultrasound examination and collect biological samples for diagnosis and further treatment planning.

The ultrasound indicated that the animal was experiencing significant renal failure, and laboratory blood tests confirmed a diagnosis of leukemia.

Following the diagnosis, another online consultation was held. A treatment plan is currently being developed, and specialists are expected to arrive in Armenia soon to assess the situation on-site and provide professional support.
