VIDEO: Law Enforcement Uncovers a 5-Member Criminal Group

On March 27, shortly after midnight, the Goris police department received a report of theft from one of the mobile operator's branches in Goris.

The police report states that the operational group determined at the crime scene that on March 26, around 11:50 PM, the door was opened with a special tool, and 18 various mobile phones were stolen from the branch located on Gusan Ashot Street, causing a damage of 1,486,000 AMD.

A criminal case was initiated. As a result of extensive measures taken by the main department of criminal investigation, regional departments of Syunik, and the divisions of Goris and Vayk, the crime was solved within hours.

It was revealed that the theft may have been committed by residents from Yerevan: 21-year-old Erik T., 32-year-old Edgar S., 24-year-old Vladimir S., 32-year-old Aram I., and 25-year-old Suren M.

On the same morning, they were apprehended on suspicion of committing the theft and taken to the Goris police department.

It also became known that after committing the theft, they fled in Suren Musinyan's “Opel.” The vehicle was moved to a secured area.

The suspects confessed that they had also committed thefts in the same manner from the service centers of the same mobile operator in Vagharsapat, Masis, and Artashat.

In particular, in mid-March 2019, they stole 18 phones from the Vagharsapat service center and sold them the next day for 280,000 AMD. After that, they stole from the Masis and Artashat service centers, selling the stolen phones to a citizen of Georgia in Yerevan for 800,000 AMD. After spending that amount, they went back to Vagharsapat and stole phones in the same way from the same store, which they again sold to the same individual.

Moreover, according to preliminary data, each time before the theft, the group found a vehicle of the same make and color, stole the license plates, affixed them to their vehicle, and after committing the theft, discarded the license plates, gloves, and masks.

Measures are underway to clarify all circumstances of the incidents and each person's role.
