Protesters Block Road in Dilijan, Traffic Jam Extends for Several Kilometers
Today, March 29, a tense and explosive situation has developed in the Tavush region. Since 9:00 AM, over 300 residents of Dilijan have blocked the main road with trucks in a show of protest. The traffic has come to a standstill, and the jam extends for several kilometers, as reported by shamshyan.com.
The residents blocking the road have stated that a local individual, Davit Hakobyan, is being unjustly accused of a serious crime, which they claim has been fabricated by the Dilijan police, investigators, and Arman Karapetyan, an investigator from the main department for particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Currently, negotiations are underway with the protesters involving Tavush Governor Hayk Chobanyan, Dilijan Mayor Armen Santrosyan, Dilijan Chief of Police Sevak Badinyan, and Karen Abajyan, commander of the 2nd platoon of the 4th company of the Traffic Police.
Governor H. Chobanyan has promised to inform the relevant authorities about the situation and expressed confidence that everything will be done to restore justice.
