VIDEO: Lydian Armenia Refuses to Collaborate with Government, Says Pashinyan
Lydian Armenia has refused to collaborate with the government, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced in the National Assembly. The question was raised by BHK MP Artur Grigoryan, concerning the mining sector.
“There are companies that come and say: we will appeal to the international court, and they feel that representatives of the Republic of Armenia are not panicking, they themselves are deteriorating. How can you not be afraid of us? No, we are not afraid; you should be afraid of us, if there is anything to fear, and not us of you,” he said.
Pashinyan noted that the Armenian authorities have hired a reputable international organization for $300,000 to conduct an assessment of whether the risks of operating the Amulsar mine are manageable. The operation of the mine will depend on the outcome of this assessment.
According to Pashinyan, if it is determined that there are environmental risks for the Jermuk and Sevan basins, then the Amulsar project will be completely shut down. However, if it is concluded that the risks are minimal and manageable, then the project will proceed.
Regarding Teghut, the Prime Minister mentioned that they have reached a stage where practical movements are already noticeable, with hopes that in the coming month to month and a half, the process of attracting labor will begin and people will start working.
