Fire Contained in Yerevan Thanks to Schoolboy
An extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan on March 27. At around 14:10, the 911 operational management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a call reporting that laundry hanging on a clothesline on the third floor of a building at 18 Varakhshelan Street in the Arabkir administrative district was on fire.
According to Shamshyan.com, before the Special Rescue Service's Fire and Rescue Squad No. 5 arrived at the scene, a 14-year-old resident of the same building, Gagik Hovakimyan, noticed the fire while passing by. Leaving his 7-year-old sister Victoria behind, he rushed into the apartment, entered the balcony, and first contained the spread of the fire, and then extinguished it.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they informed the neighbors that they had nothing more to do since the 14-year-old boy had heroically contained and extinguished the fire.
It was determined that the laundry belonging to Narine Hovannisyan, a resident of apartment No. 68 in the building, had burned, as well as part of the clothesline from apartment No. 71, because the fire from the third floor had fallen onto the laundry of the neighbor below.
