Salaries of Soldiers and Teachers to Increase

The revenue part of the Armenian budget will be exceeded. Approximately 40 billion drams more will be collected than originally planned. After announcing this in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated what they intend to do with that money.

“We intend to raise the salaries of the Armed Forces servicemen by 10 percent starting from June 1, 2019, and to raise the salaries of teachers working in public schools by the same amount starting from September 1, 2019. This concerns approximately 38,000 teachers,” said Pashinyan.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister, plans are underway to renovate and reconstruct 303 kilometers of roads at various levels. This, according to Pashinyan, is also unprecedented for the last nine years.

He also mentioned that 400 servicemen have already benefited from the government program for the restructuring of military consumer loans. “In other words, the loan is being restructured, a lower interest loan is being offered, and it’s scheduled for a longer repayment period. They just need to apply to their banks,” Pashinyan said.

He added that the increase in servicemen's salaries will also help with loan repayment, which will be implemented, organizationally if possible, starting in July.
