According to the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) in Armenia, during the past weekend at the "Agarak" border checkpoint, employees of the FSB Border Guard Directorate stopped two incidents of illegal drug smuggling into the territory of Armenia while inspecting vehicles and individuals crossing the state border.
In the first case, a service dog detected prohibited substances in the passenger compartment of a vehicle, while in the second case, the drugs were found in a specially sewn pocket of clothing.
In both instances, the perpetrators were citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, indicating that they were coming to Armenia to spend the weekend in connection with the Iranian New Year (Nowruz).
