Unlicensed Transit of 8-Passenger Vehicles is a Consequence of Legislative Gap: Arshakyan

The operation of passenger transportation without a license using small 8-passenger vehicles is a result of a legislative gap. This was stated by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia, Hakob Arshakyan, to reporters following an extraordinary government meeting today.

"This is a regular occurrence; they continuously transport passengers from the same location and disrupt the licensed companies that have won tenders. This is, in reality, a legislative gap. We are currently working seriously in this direction to fill this gap and not cause harm to our regular passenger carriers," noted the minister.

It is noteworthy that the drivers of the route operating between Armavir and Yerevan had expressed dissatisfaction over their inability to operate due to individual drivers. They indicated that they had made investments and are now on the brink of bankruptcy, while the police and the ministry have taken no action to exclude transportation operations by those without a license.
