Markets Have Been Liberalized: The Minister Presents Indicators

At the permanent commission on economic issues of the National Assembly of Armenia, Minister of Economic Development and Investments Tigran Khachatryan presented the performance and results of the 2018 Government program.

"The government's goal is to ensure that we do not jeopardize our competitive position in the future world while constructing a competitive economy," he said, adding, "If we talk about the liberalization of markets, by the end of 2018, the market share of a major sugar importer was 78%, previously it had been 95%. In the case of banana importers, it was 30%, down from 57%. Gasoline constituted 29% compared to 43%, and this trend continues," he noted.

At the same time, he mentioned that due to the work of the State Revenue Committee, more than 30,000 jobs were reported during the year, which supposedly had existed in the past but were not registered.
