Construction Companies That Built Poor Quality Roads to Be Blacklisted
During a meeting of the Economic Commission of the National Assembly, Prosperous Armenia Party MP Arthur Dalakyan asked the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies, Hakob Arshakyan, about the oversight functions that were carried out regarding the construction work on the section of the road connecting Dilijan to Ijevan, specifically in the Voskepar area. This inquiry arose because the newly constructed section of the road lacks markings and traffic signs, and furthermore, the road is already deteriorating.
In response to the MP's question, Minister Hakob Arshakyan stated that the construction work on this segment is not yet complete, as they received an additional 2.5 billion drams in funding last September, and the contract with the contracting company was signed later. Moreover, adverse weather conditions have hindered construction activities.
“Quality control is being carried out at a high level, and if there are violations, appropriate actions will be taken—either the road will not be accepted and the builders will not be paid, or the contract with them will be terminated, they will be blacklisted, and a new tender will be announced. This is in reference to the Voskepar road; the contractor has been informed that the road will not be accepted, so either they will redo the work, or that company will find itself on the blacklist,” Arshakyan elaborated.
