In Yerevan, they are painting the 'red lines' while urging the Prime Minister to fulfill his promise and eliminate them

Former member of the Yerevan City Council Sona Agekyan informed via a Facebook live broadcast that the public oversight initiative "For the Sake of Justice" is conducting a reminder action within the scope of a declared nationwide cleanup day, protesting the necessity of eliminating the parking lots marked by red lines.

Members of the initiative assert that they are responding to a public demand, which has existed since before the revolution, and has been repeatedly addressed by the current Prime Minister, former MP Nikol Pashinyan, who called for the removal of red lines from the parliamentary podium.

A reporter from tert.am informs that the group emphasizes that there is a public demand to eliminate the red lines. "Today we are acting on that public demand and are painting over the red lines, stating that we no longer need them. We serve as an example and remind the Prime Minister that this is his promise and he must fulfill it," the group members noted, pointing out that when the outdoor cafes at the Opera House were dismantled, the mayor stated that they were responding to a public demand, which was not a decision of the City Hall or the Prime Minister, but rather the people's demand.

"Now it has long been the public's demand that there are no red lines, what is the issue that the elimination of the red lines has not yet started? We are giving that start," they added, suggesting that perhaps the Prime Minister has forgotten, but this will serve as a reminder.

"Mr. Prime Minister, fulfill your promises, the people expect this from you," said one of the group members.

Another member of the group added that the revenue from the "red lines" amounts to 26 billion drams annually.

"That's a million dollars a week, which is being stolen from each of us, and it is unclear how it is being spent. We have numerous issues that are not getting funding. Now we are telling Mayor Hayk Marutyan to be accountable for where our money is going, what it has been spent on," he said, reiterating that they are fulfilling a public demand that has been part of the pre-revolutionary promises and was voiced by the Prime Minister himself.
