Will Gas Prices Rise from May? Fact

The newspaper "Fact" reports: "Recently, it became known that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and discussed economic issues of mutual interest. Given the importance of the issue, it is hardly possible that the price of gas imported from Russia was left out of the discussions.

Indeed, the issue largely falls under Gazprom's purview concerning the pricing for domestic consumers, but there is still no final solution regarding this matter, as Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan recently mentioned, indicating that negotiations are ongoing.

According to "Fact's" information, the authorities need some time regarding the increase in gas prices, specifically until at least May-June, so that they can clarify a certain "layout" within Armenia and prevent a new wave of discontent among the population.

Reports suggest that the issue of gas price increases will be included in the agenda after May when the first international loan agreement is also expected to be approved, which will provide an opportunity to ensure certain financial stability and proper diversification in the economy.

It seems that the ratification of the agreement will take place before the summer recess of the National Assembly, and this "convenient" period will be used to mitigate potential dissatisfaction regarding the increase in gas prices."
